About Pete : Pete is a livewire who is never at rest. He gets things done. Sometimes he is difficult to follow because he's thinking five steps ahead of the current problem.
More about Pete: He is a Paragliding and Paramotoring Instructor with both display and stunt flying experience. He was instrumental in establishing the sport in South Africa. He helped develop the guidelines for competition and free flying and served alternately as Chairman or Committee Member of the national paragliding body SAHPA (South African Hang-gliding and Paragliding Association) for 10 years.
He manufactured paragliders, began the first dedicated paragliding school in South Africa and also helped establish the country’s first paragliding club, the Glen Paragliding Club in Cape Town, of which he is currently chairman. Peter represented South Africa at the first World Championships in Verbier, Switzerland in 1987, and again in 1992. He was consistently in the top 5 pilots in South Africa for 10 years, and was the Western Province Champion in 1992. He has held long distance flying records in all the provinces, his best being 120 km as a tandem pilot, and a solo flight of 150 km at Kuruman in the Northern Cape - a world record at the time.
As a pioneer in the sport of Paramotoring he attended the World Paramotor Champs in 1993 and achieved a 10th place. His focus has shifted into the promotion and safety of the sport. He has a flair for publicity, arranging stunts like flying from the Good Hope Centre which was well-covered by the media. His organisational skills and depth of experience have earned him the respect of the free flying community. As a leader of this project there could be no better choice. He is a highly motivated pilot who can take an expert shot at the world record.
As Pete would say : “Anything is possible – never give up!”
